It’s been a roller coaster year for FBEC. On the plus side:
We are lucky to have an enthusiastic and multi-talented committee. I would like to thank them for their time and their commitment to the club.
How good is the new arena? It is wonderful to have a nice safe place for us to ride in.
All the riding members. We have big kids, little kids and the young at heart. So good to see such a wide variety of people enjoying our club.
Awesome caretakers. From rescuing escaped ponies, to constructing new fences, to seeding and weeding paddocks, to friendly smiles.
Extraordinary fundraising efforts. The fantastic Poo Fairy. The arena project. The donation from A300 on the MEC1 UGL Kentz joint venture. The community day with Michael Gunner saw 220 kids enjoy rides on our ponies.
Representing the NT at national events. Well done to Cara Doherty for achieving this goal.
Our re-vamped website and Facebook page (which has nearly 400 ‘likes’).
On the down side:
Our wish list and our finances never line up.
Saying goodbye to some valued members and their horses.
We have been given 5 year’s notice that our lease at East Point won’t be renewed.
The Wet Season seems to get more and more brutal each year.
I first joined FBEC when I was 13 years old. (Yes, that’s a bit longer than 10 years ago). My pony was a 3 year old Crabbet Arabian called Melody. She’s still here in pangola paddock. I have a lot of memories from this club and it is my wish that my daughter, Victoria has the same opportunity to make her own memories here too.
I wish the incoming committee all the very best for the future and remind members, we are all part of a team that is trying to do our best for our club.
